Ensure that JavaScript code is performant and doesn’t affect page load times or user experience.
Build custom themes, create child themes, and customize plugins for unique functionality.
Modify existing plugins or create custom plugins to extend the functionality of WordPress sites.
Customize WordPress themes by editing PHP, CSS, and JavaScript code, ensuring they are responsive, functional, and aligned with business needs.
Use APIs to integrate external services, such as payment gateways, CRM systems, social media, etc.
Implement best practices for optimizing WordPress sites, such as caching, database optimization, image compression, and script minification.
Write tests for the back-end to ensure that code changes don’t break existing functionality.
Work with bug-tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Trello) to document and resolve issues promptly.
Regularly communicate with clients or stakeholders to understand their requirements, give updates, and get feedback.
Candidate Profile:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
3+ years of experience working with PHP, Node.js, MySQL, WordPress, JavaScript, and jQuery, and creating or customizing WordPress themes and plugins.
Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles in PHP and hands-on experience building scalable and maintainable back-end applications.
Proficiency in database design, complex SQL queries, database optimization, and working with MySQL in a high-traffic environment.
Expertise in JavaScript, including ES6+ features, as well as jQuery for adding interactivity and handling asynchronous operations
Extensive experience with WordPress, including theme development, customization, and plugin creation, as well as integrating WordPress with external APIs and third-party services.
Deep understanding of WordPress core functions, hooks, and template hierarchy, along with experience customizing or building plugins and themes.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
