Are you looking for instructions on how to use Sysprep to create and install custom reusable Windows AMIs?<\/p>\n

Sysprep, a Microsoft utility, can be used to capture custom Windows images.<\/p>\n

The instance security identifiers (SID), computer name, and drivers are all removed by Sysprep from an Amazon EC2 Windows instance.<\/p>\n

Please keep the following points in mind before running Sysrep.<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. First and foremost, do not utiliseSysprep to backup your instance.<\/li>\n
  2. Second, do not use Sysprep on a live system.<\/li>\n
  3. On Windows Server 2016 Nano Server, Sysprep isn’t supported.<\/li>\n
  4. Run Sysprep with EC2Config on Windows Server 2008 through Windows Server 2012 R2.<\/li>\n
  5. Sysprep with EC2Launch is required for Windows Server 2016 and later.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Let’s have a look at the steps taken by our Support team today:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    1. First, access the Amazon EC2 console, and then use Remote Desktop Protocol to connect to your Windows EC2<\/strong><\/a> instance (RDP).<\/li>\n
    2. From the Windows Start menu, select:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Open EC2ConfigService Settings and select the Image tab for Windows Server 2008 through Windows Server 2012 R2.<\/p>\n

      Open EC2 Launch Settings on Windows Server 2016 or later.<\/p>\n

      Then select Random for Administrator Password.<\/p>\n

      1. Select Shutdown with Sysprep from the drop-down menu.<\/li>\n
      2. After that, select Yes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Please note that the new password must be retrieved from the EC2 console on the next startup.<\/p>\n

        1. From the navigation pane of the Amazon EC2 console, select Instances.<\/li>\n
        2. Select your instance after the instance status switches to stopped.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          Choose Image, Create image from the Actions menu.<\/p>\n

          Enter a name for the image.<\/p>\n

          1. (Optional) Enter a description for the image.<\/li>\n
          2. Finally, select Create image from the drop-down menu.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
