Customers frequently ask us to activate Passive FTP on their Amazon EC2 instance.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Whenever a new Plesk instance is deployed from an AWS Marketplace AMI, Amazon EC2 builds and assigns a security group to the instance.<\/li>\n<li>Plesk operates with pre-configured firewall rules in these security groups. A rule in the firewall allows connections to the passive FTP port range.<\/li>\n<li>However, we must manually enable connections to the passive FTP port range if the Plesk instance was not built from an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.velaninfo.com\/rs\/tech-tips\/aws\/\"><strong>AWS Marketplace<\/strong><\/a> AMI or if we have a custom security group.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Manually configuring passive FTP on an Amazon EC2 instance: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The procedures to manually configuring passive FTP on an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.velaninfo.com\/rs\/techtips\/how-to-increase-disk-volume-on-aws-ec2\/\"><strong>Amazon EC2 instance<\/strong> <\/a>are as follows.<\/li>\n<li>To begin, we must first log onto our AWS console.<\/li>\n<li>Go to Instances and tick the box next to the instance for which we wish to enable connections to the passive FTP port range.<\/li>\n<li>Then, in the Description, click the name of the security group that was created automatically.<\/li>\n<li>Finally, select Inbound and press the Edit button.<\/li>\n<li>After that, we must select Add Rule.<\/li>\n<li>The following settings for the newly added rule can be specified here:<\/li>\n<li>Type: The Custom TCP rule value can be kept in the drop-down list.<\/li>\n<li>The port range can be specified as follows: 49152-65535.<\/li>\n<li>We can choose anywhere from the drop-down list as our source.<\/li>\n<li>To distinguish the firewall rule from others, we must give it a name that is easily remembered.<\/li>\n<li>Finally, click the Save button.<\/li>\n<li>The firewall rule is created, and we can see it in the list of firewall rules.<\/li>\n<li>On a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.velaninfo.com\/rs\/techtips\/request-ssl-certificate-from-aws-certificate-manager\/\"><strong>Plesk Amazon EC2 instance<\/strong><\/a>, we may now use the passive FTP mode.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>At Velan, our server support engineers can help to configure passive FTP on your Plesk-installed AWS EC2 servers.
