During the updating of Ubuntu version 16.04 to 18.04, the following command is used to update to the new version<\/p>\n

# do-release-upgrade<\/em><\/p>\n

When using this method to update Ubuntu\u2019s core, there is a known bug that would not allow us to continue with the upgrade. We would see the following error.<\/p>\n

Checking for a new Ubuntu release<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0Please install all available updates for your release before upgrading<\/em>.<\/p>\n

If you see the above error when running the update command, run each command below.<\/p>\n

# sudo apt-get update<\/em><\/p>\n

# sudo apt-get upgrade \u2013y<\/em><\/p>\n

# sudo apt-get dist-upgrade<\/em><\/p>\n

# sudo do-release-upgrade<\/em><\/p>\n

Once you\u2019ve updated your server with the above commands, please continue with the upgrade of the Ubuntu server<\/p>\n
